Twitter joining the Location game
Similar to Foursquare and Gowalla – Twitter is now creating their own location services for user tweets.
Users will be able to tag tweets with specific locations and also create new locations – much like Foursquare and Gowalla.
When you click on the location below the tweet you will be presented a small window with the location on Google Maps.
Many Foursquare and Gowalla users send tweets about their current location and Twitter is integrating these tweets to also show the location on Google maps if clicked.
Twitter will also be upgrading their API so developers can integrate with the Twitter Places functionality into their applications.
The new functionality is expected to roll out over the next month.
